Today I’m 9 years away since I started in the music world. An amazing travel. Going through Silverchair, The Young Veins, Utter Sound, Tegan And Sara, Angels and Airwaves (Love pt2), The Veronicas and lately Tame Impala.

Knowing amazing musicians and humans that I’d like to thank in this moment. Mostly God. Then, Daniel Johns, Ben Gillies, Chris Joannou, David Bottrill, Nick Launay, Van Dyke Parks, John Watson, Melissa Chenery, Ryan Ross, Jon Walker, Rob Mathes, Nick White, Destiny Berteau, Darren Middleton, Laena Geronimo, Z Berg, Tennessee Thomas, Zooey Deschannel, Alex Greenwald, Victoria Asher, Annie Monroe, Tegan and Sara Quinn, Adam “Atom” Willard, David Kennedy, Lisa and Jess Origliasso, Jodie (Tame Impala Manager) and the list goes on and on and on… I’m very thankful and humble this day.

And thank everyone that has been a great support this time. thank you. God bless you.

You know what? It’s hard to be me.
It’s a lot of work.
I wake up everyday in this house and use the running hot water, then I have to care for these beautiful dogs who think I am the king of the world. THEN I have to choose what to do with my day. I might go running with my healthy self or I might sit and write a song on my bass or one of my guitars. Or maybe I’ll take the motorcycle to the track. Or take dogs for a ride. Rest assured I have had whatever I want to eat, and I am warm enough/cool enough to be comfortable at all times… Then I will most likely look at my computer to find a bunch of people have messaged me to say they love what I do, or they respect me and would like some advice…
All in all it’s just exhausting dealing with all these amazing aspects of my life…. wait….that’s right…. Now I remember.. I mean to say:
I AM SO FUCKING GRATEFUL FOR ALL OF YOU AND MY LIFE.
PS… don’t sweat the small shit… and it’s almost ALL small shit.

I really do have the best group of people around me as “fans”.. You are all more like friends I don’t talk to everyday… here’s one of the nicest letters I’ve gotten in a while, Thankyou! :
Hi Yon
I know that you have probably gotten hundred of messages filled with people telling you that they worship you and what an awesome bassplayer you are, and the chance of you even seeing this is slim. But i just want to thank you so much for being a HUGE part of Silverchair’s “Young Modern” (if not the entire base of it). Your bass lines for every song they ever came out with was simple perfection. Sorry for bringing Silverchair into this, but i feel like i have to tell you what it means to me. The music that you made has gotten me through some shit, but it has also brightened my days from just listening to your bass. When i heard of you leaving the band in 2008, i was crushed, literally, but now im good just to know you are back, just waiting the band to come back from the hiatus. And now you are doing your solo album and i know that you’ll do great with whatever path you take, because the sounds that you create on your bass are breathtaking.

My Heroin…

I left a shadow at her feet. I can see her all alone, the night itself a reverie I could dream this out for a while. I keep her lost in lock and key ‘cause she’s just my kind of style.
She sets the mood so I begin and I walk over. She speaks the word to make me grin, Can I please have her?
We grab a hold to brace the end. This is what I am speaking of.

Yeah you took me higher and higher, you make it hard for me to leave but I’m coming back to you… I crawl my way back in your head to hear you speak and dream again, to touch your lips from deep within a bit like love and heroin..
Carry well when the world ends, across you lay, I loose you when you’re in my arms just like the wind…
I’d wait like snow, on the eve of spring, I can out last cold, can you out last me?.
I’ll say it tonight and this time I really swear I mean it… I heard a pin drop and a nervous heartbeat. Have you ever heard me scream I love you?.

Music is not something that you are in control of. It comes from somewhere else. If you`re that middleman between the cosmos and the real world on Earth that the music comes through, you are very lucky. When you record music, it`s not your job to try to control anything. It`s more about being in the right place and flowing with the energies that are in the air around you and with the people that you are making the music with. The second that someone thinks music comes from themselves, and that they are the ones responsible for it, is when they go off track. The most important thing you could realize is that you are the least important part of the whole process. Music is going to be made whether any one artist is here or not. If John Lennon or Jimi Hendrix had disappeared, music still would have gone on, changed, grown, and been the beautiful thing that it is. You take away the music, all you have are the individuals, and they don`t mean anything. The individual is nothing, it`s the music that`s in the air all the time that`s important, and you have to be humble in the face of that. I think my songs exist before I write them, in a place called the fourth dimension where sounds and shapes and colours are the land. They`re the air and the grass and the wood and they`re all these feelings. When a collection of those feelings is put into my head, because I`m tuned into that place, I have the skill technically to turn it into a song.
Everything an artist needs is inside of himself, and it really doesn`t matter what`s going on in the world. Nothing else matters. You don`t need to have things perfect, you don`t need to have a lot of money or a beautiful girl. If your job in life is to create, you can find inside yourself what you need to make beautiful art and beautiful music. But you might have to clean yourself out, spiritually or physically. You gotta constantly purify yourself, living in the city, around human beings. There might be people close to you who affect you inside yourself in such a corrupt way that it screws with your ability to do what you do. But if you make sure that the people who are close you are good people who are there for you and love you, you can create your temple everywhere you go.
I can also be very happy in this life, but it`s usually happiness that I get from other lives I`ve lived and other dimensions. This life is hardly important to me.
The point is, I`m weird, but I never felt weird.
I know that now i couldn`t be happier than I am. Girls often distracts me from my job. I don`t want to find myself in a relationship unless I can coordinate it with my job, without letting it influence my musical self.
Expression is when you`re at one with nothingness, and you just beathe with your playing.
